Hello, my name is Mikayla,
I am a qualified teacher from New Zealand and a native English speaker. I hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Primary School Teaching (equivalent to an Elementary School teaching qualification in Japan) and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Teaching and working with children have always been a passion of mine!

In my spare time I like to keep active. I love walking, going to the gym & Hiphop dancing!

Before moving to Japan, I worked for over 8 years as a dance teacher in New Zealand, teaching students from ages 5 - 18+ in both primary schools and hiphop dance schools. I love helping children express themselves through movement, creativity, and play while building their confidence and communication skills.

I have been living in Tokyo since December 2024 and am currently teaching at an English language school for children. In this role, I lead preschool and after-school classes for elementary students and help develop their English skills. It is very rewarding for me as a teacher to see their English progress and the amount of fun they are having at the same time!

In my lessons and babysitting time, I like to incorporate fun activities such as dancing, arts and crafts like drawing, colouring and any type of board games. I also like to do story time/reading with children too! I think that learning should be both educational and enjoyable, and I always aim to create a warm, encouraging environment for every child I work with.

- 48+ hours before the scheduled sitting: No cancellation fee
- Between 48-24 hours: 50% of sitting fee
- Within 24 hours: 100% of sitting fee (+ transportation cost if on the way)
