1. Akita Wonderful Fes

Date: 1/12 Saturday 11am-5pm, 1/13 Sunday 10am-3pm

Location: Yoyogi Park

A prefectoral icon of Akita, the Akita dogs are here to celebrate its hometown with you at Yoyogi park this weekend! Get to know the furry pups while enjoying some Akita specialties like Kiritanpo and Inaniwa Udon. There will also be a special appearance by the UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage's recent addition, Namahage! In traditional Japanese folklore, the Namahage are messengers of god famous for scaring children into being good kids. Bring your whole family along and you might just go home with your kids transformed into model students.

 

2. Furusato Matsuri Tokyo

Date: 1/11-20 10am-9pm (1/20 until 6pm)

Location: Tokyo Dome

A festival of all festivals, at the Furasato Matsuri, you get a chance of enjoying all kind of regional festivals from all over Japan. Try all the different kinds of festivals foods they serve in different regions across Japan while observing traditional dances. Prefectorial and municipal characters from all over Japan will also be gathering to meet and greet kids!

 

3. Ice Skating at TBS White Sacas

Date: ~1/14/2019 (Weekdays: 12-9pm & Weekends: 11am-9pm)

Location: TBS Akasaka Sacas (Akasaka Station)

As the holiday season winds down, so too do the ice skating rinks around Tokyo. This is the last weekend to enjoy ice skating at White Sacas! The TBS White Sacas offers not just free skating but skating lessons for children 4 and up and adults at various times. Feeling peckish after all that skating? grab a delicious snack at the many food stalls surrounding the rink!
