Hi! I have been a mum for 12 years so far (and happily counting up) and I am that kind of mum that kids always gather around.
My son is completely bilingual. He writes, reads, and speaks in both English and Japanese.
It’s not that easy living in Japan to be perfectly bilingual but yes I have one, but great experience raising a bilingual child.

For the cultural aspect, I am somewhat in the middle. I left for NZ when I was 16 to study abroad, I stayed Australia for working holiday, and I have studied in a Dutch university.
I am not religious but I know well enough to respect everyone’s belief. I will make sure that family belief to be not disturbed.

Basically when it comes to culture and boundaries you will have to inform me, we are here in Japan and there are social rules that you may or may not agree with.
I will respect your culture while I am with your child unless you want your child to experience Japanese culture.
Basically I’m very open and flexible. I will adjust to your need because I believe family is the most important thing that one can have.

All that said, I am pretty much fun for kids to hangout with, I listen, I talk, I giggle and I chase if needed!!!
I’m not a great singer but I also sing my made up tune all the time when I’m with smaller children who enjoys such songs! (oh good old times!!! My son doesn’t enjoy it anymore!)

読み書きの伴ったバイリンガルの息子が大きくなり、英語力の指針を計るためTOEICを受験し975点取得しております。現在は大学や予備校、高校なので主に資格関係の英語を講師として教えています。

特に乳幼児の小さなお子様は、沢山のexposure(英語シャワーともいわれています)が必要だと思います。子育ての経験がるので、まだ会話がままならないお子さんへの英語での語りかけも得意としております。英語に抵抗がある少し大きなお子様には日本語を軸にeliciting(言葉の引き出し)を行います。

何より一番大切お伝えしたいことは、私は子供が好きだということです。また年齢により言葉のキャッチボールがままならないお子様でも遠慮なくお話しできます。(バイリンガル教育ではとても大切なことだと思います。)

高校、大学と海外で過ごしており、また仕事や家で日々英語を使用しております。モノリンガル(一つの言語)のご家庭では「言葉がごちゃごちゃになる」と思われるかもしれませんが多言語が一般的なヨーロッパでは、多くの子ども達が小さな頃から多言語に接し、こんがらがることなく、バイリンガル、トライリンガルに育っています。私の香港の友人もナニーとの会話が英語で広東語、北京語、英語で会話します。また主人もネイティブレベルで3言語を話すトライリンガルです。

お子様のペースに合わせ英語の比重を少なく始め徐々に増やすことも可能ですので是非一度ご相談ください。
