Shinagawa Yakiimo Festival is a food festival put on by roasted sweet potato lovers for roasted sweet potato lovers. Sweet potatoes of different varieties and different roasting methods from all over Japan have gathered in Shinagawa for your pleasure. Enjoy this favorite Japanese winter snack with your whole family in an outdoor Kotatsu!

Setsubun is a festival held typically on February 3rd, before the start of the spring, to chase away the evil spirit. In order to do so, people throw dried soy beans or in some regions peanuts around their homes and in shrines or temples yelling, "Oni wa soto, fuku wa uchi" which translates to "demons out, good fortunes in." Afterwards, it is considered good luck to pick up and eat the number of beans which corresponds to your age or the number of your age plus one more. A number of temples and shrines in Tokyo as well as all over Japan are celebrating Setsubun this weekend. Check out these shrines and temples for a chance to rid yourselves of evil spirits while munching on some beans:
