Hinamatsuri, also known as girl's day or doll's day is a traditional Japanese celebration taking place every year on March 3rd to pray for the good health of girls. It is typically celebrated by displaying dolls that depict a traditional Heian wedding. Paper recreations of these dolls are also sent down the river on boats, carrying away one's impurities and sins with them. This doll floating ceremony will be taking place on the Sumida River from Sumida Park at 11:30am joined by about 1500 participants. The event will be cancelled in case of rain.
